August 2006 - holidays in France

We were so ready for our three weeks of holidays back in France! After 5 months in Liberia and 2 months in Ghana (see earlier posts), the three weeks were a haven of rest and comfort. We were pampered by grandparents and parents (and étienne totally spoiled by great-grandparents grandparents aunt uncle etc), then pampered by our church family with a warm welcome and a church lunch (thank you www.lyonchurch.org )! So, two weeks at the grandparents' old country house an hour's drive from Lyon, with julien's sister's family (three cousins playmates for etienne); and a week in the Haute-Alpes montains to see julien's father's family. Thank you, Lord. We've since returned safely to the ship and settled down well back to ship life, and here are some photo memories of hols...

The Haute-alpes, cold (5 to 16 Celcius in summer!) but a refreshing change in climate for us, hikes in mountain trails, wild berries, cheese and wine :)...
