October 2007 - joining Facebook :)

Yes yes I joined Facebook recently, and it is addictive!! I blame dear Ana, I resisted many invitations but finally cracked when she invited me! There is a special bond when you spend a year together on board a ship docked at Africa, with your crazy kids growing together, going to preschool together, eating and playing together, going out on trips together etc, and when Ana another mum who was on the M/V Anastasis invited me to join Facebook I was too tempted. When we say goodbye to crew on the ship who come from all over the world, you never know when you will meet them again, so being able to connect and keep in touch seemed too good to be true. So yes, I am a Facebook addict now. With limited sleep and time, I still log on everyday to see what everyone else is up to on FB. I don't really want to give up blogging though. Facebook allows quick catchups, and is better than not meeting at all, but it still doesn't beat the warmth and fellowship from reading long blog reminisces (I'm a wordy person haven't you noticed :)) and long phone conversations and the best is of course physically meeting up somewhere for coffee or tea or dinner and chat over hours :). But if we are separated by a few hundred kilometres of sea and land, then Facebook is a true blessing!

So not that I want to tempt you to Facebook addiction too :), but if you are so inclined, would love to see you there too, anyone can join now. Just be careful what information you put in, my IT hubby often warns me of cyber-identity fraud, so I try to be careful. So if you find my hometown listed Timbuktu, Mali on my facebook page, don't be vexed. And I would like to go there someday :)!
